Learn How We’re Making an Impact on Many Lives

What We’re Doing to Improve Literacy

  • We partner with libraries, bookstores, and individuals in the US to collect book donations that might otherwise be discarded.
  • We recruit volunteers to help us pack and ship these books to underserved locations in Massachusetts, where we are located, and to many communities in Kenya, where our founder, Faith Kiio, is from.

  • We have delivered over 400,000 books to 60 schools and organizations in Kenya, changing the lives of these children and their families.
  • We have also received grant awards to extend our literacy donation program to those in need close to us in Massachusetts.

What We’re Doing to Improve Math Skills

Faith Kenya partners with the Art of Problem Solving, an exceptional math program based in California with reach throughout the United States.

The Art of Problem Solving donated math textbooks and online resources, including:

  • 100 Beast Academy Online student accounts
  • This gives students access to their online platform with 20,000+ problems, puzzles, and activities across more than 1,000 lessons.
  • It also includes over 1,000 instructional videos.

We utilize books and technology to provide access to digital math tools and resources. They offer online platforms, educational apps, or interactive learning materials that children can access to practice math skills, engage in virtual math games, and receive immediate feedback on their progress.

What We’re Doing to Provide Clean Water

The Problem

  • Our volunteers install boreholes, which are deep wells drilled into the ground to access underground water sources. These boreholes provide a sustainable and reliable supply of clean water to communities in need.
  • Our volunteers construct water wells in areas where underground water is accessible. Wells provide a localized water source, allowing communities to easily access clean water for their daily needs.
  • Recognizing the importance of utilizing rainwater as a valuable resource, we promote and implement rainwater harvesting systems. These systems collect and store rainwater runoff from rooftops and other surfaces, providing an additional source of clean water for communities.

  • Recognizing the close link between clean water and hygiene, we conduct educational programs on proper hygiene and sanitation practices. We raise awareness about the importance of handwashing, proper waste disposal, and sanitation facilities, promoting healthy habits within communities.

Our Solution

We distribute water from the borehole to the school kitchen, dormitory, storage, and the market water point. The goal is for the community to get water and buy at a reasonable rate in order to:

  1. Sustain the project
  2. Have more students boarding and reduce the morning walking trend
  3. Plant a vegetable garden
  4. Provide water troughs for wild animals that live alongside them

This water project is at ACK Mtito-Andei, providing water to 700 students and 4,763 people in the community.

What We’re Doing to Improve Health

We believe that health care should be a right rather than a privilege. That is why we deliver healthcare programs that foster the well-being of families within struggling communities. In addition to providing healthcare programs, we also provide education programs to inform people about different lifestyle diseases and what preventative measures they can take to stay healthy.

We conduct healthcare missions in underprivileged communities that include primary healthcare with a focus on children and women, dental missions, vaccinations, screenings, prescriptions, and more.

  • We conduct health education programs to raise awareness about various health issues and promote healthy practices within Kenyan communities.
  • We organize workshops, seminars, and community outreach events to disseminate information on topics like hygiene, nutrition, family planning, and disease prevention.
  • We offer nutritional support programs, especially targeting vulnerable populations such as malnourished children, pregnant women, and the elderly. We provide food assistance, nutritional counseling, and supplement advice to improve the overall health and well-being of individuals facing nutritional challenges.

What We’re Doing to Improve Social-Economic Conditions

Many individuals might not have the training and skills needed to access secure employment and facilitate financial stability, necessary components of increasing income and improving standards of living. This is because of a lack of resources and education. Our programs work to aid individuals so they can acquire the skills and knowledge needed for employment opportunities and develop their financial literacy, in turn improves their livelihood and standard of living.
One way to do this is by providing employment support through:

  • Occupational skill training
  • Leadership development activities (e.g., community service, peer-centered activities)
  • Financial literacy education
  • Entrepreneurial skills training
  • Adult mentoring
